Trick Dog Jake!

Check it out!  Jake – a trick dog!  I always called them skills but when I volunteered to help with a TRICKS class at the Winnegamie Dog Club I realized that all the things he did for me some people called tricks.  SO…  I checked into the titles offered at www.DoMoreWithYourDog.com and again realized that he could do many of the tricks.  I started to log what he did, then videotape him performing and next submit the applications for titles.  He qualified easily for the first four levels and the last one is Champion Trick Dog which I’ll submit when we get back to the staging and taping his performances.

Trick Dog title!

Do More With Your Dog!® is the only official sanctioning and organizing body for the sport of Dog Tricks.

Dog trainers tend to train the hardest when working toward a goal—it keeps them motivated, and focused. A Trick Dog title can motivate you by giving you a goal. The Trick Dog title allows you to earn your title on your own time, in front of a witness.

Teaching tricks establishes a pattern of learning, teaches skills and focus, is a positive method of training, and promotes a bond between canine and human.

What Does a Trick Dog Title Mean?

A trick dog title honors the dog, recognizing him as an intelligent and willing partner. It means that your dog loved you enough to work with you and try to understand you, no matter how crazy your requests and how clumsy your attempts.

A trick dog title honors your commitment to your dog, showing that he was important enough in your life to receive your time, your energy, and your undivided attention. You loved your dog enough to engage him, challenge him, bond with him, and help him achieve a goal.

You believed in your dog even when he failed; and you gave him another chance even when nobody else would have; and in the end your faith in him was justified.

You are an owner who did more with your dog. And that makes your dog the luckiest dog in the world.
